Tom Balcom, CFP®, CAIA, MBA is a Fee-only, Certified Financial Planner and Private Wealth Management Advisor, possessing over a decade of private wealth management firm experience. Prior to founding 1650 Wealth Management in 2010, Mr. Balcom spent 10 years as an investment advisor at the private wealth management firm, Foldes Financial Management, located in Miami, Florida. He founded the Registered Investment Advisor firm, 1650 Wealth Management, as he wanted the ability to objectively create and manage his clients wealth without the constraints of corporate mandates or sales commission structures, inherent at larger investment and brokerage firms. As an independent Registered Investment Advisor, Mr. Balcom works with his clients with a fiduciary responsibility, as he is legally required to put his clients interests above that of his own firm. He is passionate about offering his clients independent and objective advice, along with an open architecture investment platform, offering a broad spectrum of investment vehicles, all free from conflicts of interest and completely transparent. As a Fee-only, independent investment advisor and does not sell products or receive commissions, providing his clients with full transparency.

David W. Austin, CFP®
David W. Austin, CFP, is a fee-only financial and investment advisor and a Certified Financial Planner licensee, having completed the coursework from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, and received the CFP designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in 1984. His areas of specialty include investment portfolio design and management, pre- and post-retirement planning, tax planning, and estate planning.
Mr. Austin is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and has been active in the financial services industry since 1972. For over 30 years he has provided comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services to individuals, trusts, pensions, and charitable organizations. He is a former Vice President of a major, international insurance company, and has conducted over 500 seminars on capital creation and personal financial management throughout the United States.
In 1986, he formed Austin Financial Advisers, Inc., a Registered Investment Advisor, to provide comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services to a wide variety of individuals, organizations, and qualified retirement plans. From 1992 to 2000, he was a senior financial advisor with Kathleen Day & Associates (now The Enrichment Group), and in 2000, he merged his practice with Foldes Financial Management, LLC. In 2010, he joined 1650 Wealth Management as a senior financial advisor.
Mr. Austin is a member of the international Financial Planning Association, and as an independent, fee-only financial advisor, he custodies all client assets through the Institutional division of Charles Schwab & Company. He has written for various publications including The Miami Herald, Registered Investment Advisor, Financial Services Week, Financial Product News, Mutual Funds Magazine, and Bloomberg’s Wealth Manager. Mr. Austin was a featured speaker on Risk Management at the South Florida Financial Planning Symposium Expo ‘91 in Miami, and an expert panelist on mutual fund investing for the WLRN-TV series “Financial Fitness”. He is a former adjunct faculty member of Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and the National Center for Financial Services Training in New York, New York, having taught the Certified Financial Planner Certificate Program for both institutions.
